About the event

Sport has proven to be a powerful tool for the development and upliftment of communities and so too has organised sports been able to really promote greater interaction and corporation between communities, business and opportunities for growth. Our event is one such opportunity that will bring together different stakeholders to bring our community together.

About the Event

The Cup of Hope is a Round Robin, leading into a knockout 4-week football tournament focused on young people within the community to grow their participation is sport, promote sportsmanship and engage youngsters in healthy, sustainable options to invest their time. It also creates an opportunity for healthy competition between schools, but importantly it provides a unique opportunity for businesses to engage with communities at ground level and give back with recognition.

Starting in March 2025, 16 teams within each community region will be competing every Saturday to earn maximum points in a round robin format tournament over a period of 3 months until June 2025. During this time all 16 teams will play within their specific regions for three Saturdays whilst the Top 8 Teams, calculated on points will come together on the 4th Saturday to play a final round to determine the top 3 teams for each region. This will be the process for months 1 & 2.

Once the Top Three (3) teams for each region has been determined, the Top 12 teams (3 from each region) will come together during a weekend in month 3 (June 2025) to play for the 2025 Cup of Hope Championship Trophy and bragging rights for a year until the next tournament.

Expected Numbers

Given the size of the tournament, we will be hosting a total number of 64 teams with an estimate feet traffic of approximately 1280 persons between players and spectators over the period of time, spanning across 12 different communities where teams will come from. We can therefore comfortably say that the tournament should comfortably attract approximately 1500 persons throughout the tournament with everyone involved.

Proceeds

We have over the last few months assessed the greater needs in and around our communities and have Identified 2 main areas where we would like to invest a percentage of our proceeds of the event, which are:

  1. Upgrading and Maintenance of facilities in our schools, including structural damage and multipurpose facilities.
  2. Education and Training workshops to empower young, abled and disabled youth in the communities to create more opportunities for employment.

Like any other initiative, we aim to encourage people to be more involved in the upliftment of the community as a whole.

We therefore welcome the investment and partnership of different organizations, schools, clubs and corporates alike so that we can strengthen  and grow the opportunities for your young people.
